Are you a quality Commenter?

Hello readers, and commenters!

Have you ever asked yourself this question, am I a quality commenter?  Have you looked at your comments on your blog lately to see some short or random comments?  I have.  I mean we work hard on our posts, and sometimes people just comment about random things, I just have a very hard time publishing those kinds of comments.  I put a lot of effort into my commenting, if I have ever visited your blog and left a comment I think you can see what I am talking about.  I like to make people feel proud of how hard they worked, and I never leave negative comments either, I always try to stay positive.

Well if you have asked yourself any of these questions I have some tips for you!  Or if you really just don’t know anything about commenting than I think you will improve so much if you follow my strategies…

  1. Make sure you actually take the time to read the post before you comment
  2. Make sure to check for spelling errors
  3. If you have a blog a fun thing to do is customize your commenting avatar
  4. In your comment try to complement on something you appreciated or liked about the post
  5. if you comment it is always nice to leave some feedback on the post, that’s how people improve their writing

Well I hope my advice helps you, and if you have any more questions about commenting just ask.  Until next time…Thanks for reading!

Excellent post Catie on being a better commenter with really good advice. Totally agree about negative comments; even when you may disagree it is still possible to explain your views and be nice.

One of my problems when I read a post that really provokes me is I can end up writing too long a comment. Which isn’t always the best approach and probably I should write a post but to write a post takes longer than a comment. What do you prefer? People to leave a longer comment or write a post that links back to your post?

Thanks for entering The Edublogger’s Birthday Celebration Competition!

Congratulations, Catie, for winning the Edublogger’s Birthday Competition!
I think your advices may be very useful not only to my own students, but also to me, as, from time to time, it is good to make a “self audition” about how we are commenting on other blogs.
You are right about the fact that we must make an effort not only to be friendly and stay positive, which is relatively easy, but also to focus on the main subject of the post we are commenting so that we may write something thoughtful and, thus, far more suited to enable a real conversation between blogger and commenter.
    Happy Blogging!
