Do you love to read about fantasy, and adventure books? Well if you do this book is for you, it’s adventure, and fantasy wrapped up in one!
Just recently my teacher started reading a book called Arabian Nights to my class. Arabian Nights is a book about a king in Arabia who has a very beautiful wife, and loves her very much. But one day he was off to his brothers house to deliver something, and forgot the present so he went back over to the castle and saw his wife holding hands with the Head Of Archers! The King went into a storm of rage, before his wife could even say anything! The King told his Royal Vizier that he wanted them both executed in the morning, and that he wanted to remarry the next day! The Royal Vizier did not like that idea but he agreed to do it anyway. The King also said he would keep that wife for a day and than have her executed the next day before he was unwise enough to fall in love with her, and he would keep doing the same routine until there were no girls left in all of Arabia! So the days rolled by, he would marry a girl and than execute her in the morning, until one day there was only one girl left, Shahrazad, but this was a problem because that was the Royal Vizier’s only daughter!
But the Royal Vizier knew he couldn’t refuse the king’s order so he led her sadly to the castle to marry the King. Now Shahrazad was a very clever girl, and so that night the king ordered her to tell him a story, because he loved stories! So Shahrazad thought of a plan, to tell him part of a story each night and stop at dawn when he would normally have her executed, but the King as I said loved stories so he would have her finish it that night and than have her executed the next morning.
Mrs. Smith hasn’t finished the book yet, so I don’t know the ending to the book but I know one of the stories Shahrazad told the King and that is Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves. This story is mainly about a man named Ali Baba and his brother Fat Kasiem. Fat Kasiem is a very lazy man with a very disagreeable wife, and Ali Baba his brother is a hard working man trying to support his family. Well one day Ali Baba goes down to the forest with his mule, but than he hears horses galloping near him so he goes and hides in a tree because he doesn’t want any trouble. Than he sees a group of 40 men, the thieves! Well Ali decides to watch what they do, the captain of the group goes to the cave entrance and says “Open Sesame”. And than the door opened! A few minutes later they all ran out, with bags full of treasure! Ali made sure they all left and than went to the cave entrance and said “Open Sesame”, and the door opened again. He walked in and the cave was full of treasure, rubies, pearls, coins, crowns, silks, goblets and more!
Now I am not going to finish the story because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but today in class Mrs. Smith told us to visualize ourselves in Ali Baba’s shoes, in the cave what did you see, hear, touch, smell, and taste, and than write a paragraph about it. And I wanted to share mine with you. Hear is my descriptive paragraph.
As soon as I walked into the cave I saw truck loads of shimmering coins scattered all over the ground in huge piles. On high up shelves in velvety blue and gold cases were crowns bejeweled with diamonds and rubies, and pearl necklaces that shimmered in the small amount of light shining through the tiny crack in the roof of the cave. I glanced at the back of the room, and I saw the most beautiful sight, there was a huge treasure chest at the back of the room overflowing with breathtaking jewels, and soft silks with the most beautiful designs and patterns. I started exploring to the very back of the cave, a small wind blew by and shivers crawled down my back. I grew very nervous, but the light smell of cinnamon in the air was kind of calming. I suddenly realized that the thieves could return any moment now! I pushed myself up against the damp cave wall, shoved as many gold coins as I could in my pocket and dashed out the door planning my next return.
Well I hope you enjoyed my little visualization there, and hope I didn’t spoil this story for you because I really really suggest you read it, and I hope you like it!
